vitamins vat added

Update 21st Dec 2019:

Unfortunately the campaign to stop Vat added to food supplements was not sucessful, from 1st Jan 2020 there will be Vat added to most Vitamins (products with food supplement classification)

Food for specific groups, such as infant formula, folic acid, fortified foods like cereals and yogurts and human oral medicines licensed or authorised by the Health Products Regulatory Authority as medicine will continue to be zero rated.

Many products effected

Brand names such as Advanced Nutrition Programme, A Vogel, Celtic WInd, Eskimo Oil, HIgher Nature, Quest, Sambucol, Seven Seas

The new Vat rate is likely to effect products ranges such as Advanced Nutriton (skin omegas, Vitamin A, skin accumax), Centrum multi-vitamins, Pharmaton multi-vitamins.

What Next?

As a retailer we have to wait and see what happens in Jan with price structures from our suppliers. The price of products are set from the supplier, the new added Vat rate will effect the price of 95% of Vitamins, with exception if suppliers can manage to reduce cost price.

Customer Reviews

Recently purchased some Jane Iredale make up. Skin1 is always my go to chemist, so quick and efficient. Pam was so knowledgable about the make and gave wonderful advice.

Pamela D, Dublin 20

What can I say Pamala was extremely helpful and kind to speak too. She insured that the Environ products I have been using and was just re-ordering still suited my skin.

Catriona, Donegal
